Two announcements this week.
First, there will be no newsletter next week. I am taking the week off for the July 4th holiday.
Second, later this week I will be announcing my new Great Manager Masterclass. Enrollment will be limited, so subscribers of this newsletter will get first chance to sign up. Even better, paid subscribers will get priority to sign up and receive a 40% discount. If you are on the fence for becoming a paid subscriber, the savings from this deal alone will more than make up for the subscription.
Let’s get started.

Why Managers Stifle Innovation
The article "Why Territorial Managers Stifle Innovation — and What to Do About It" from MIT Sloan Review explains how managers who feel insecure about their status often hinder innovation by not supporting ideas from their subordinates. This behavior stems from a fear of being overshadowed. To combat this, organizations should incentivize managers to embrace and promote employee ideas. By fostering a sense of identification with the organization, managers can shift from a defensive to a collaborative mindset, benefiting both the team and the company's innovative potential.
