On this day in 2002, Scott Hatteberg hits a home run to give the Oakland A’s their 20th win in a row - setting a record. This is one of the scenes from Moneyball that doesn’t get nearly enough credit.
I highly recommend the movie not only because it is interesting, but it shows how a leader has to take a different path sometimes. That team changed the way the game is played - for better or worse - and it is a great lesson for all managers.
Let’s get started.
1 Big Thing
What High Achievers Need
Mentoring high achievers requires a tailored approach to help them avoid stagnation and continue growing. Effective mentors foster a growth mindset by encouraging continuous learning and resilience in the face of failure. They help develop emotional intelligence through structured feedback, guiding high achievers to understand their emotions and relationships better. Additionally, mentors can expand their mentees' networks by facilitating connections and opportunities for collaboration. The goal is to inspire these high achievers to maintain their success while evolving as strategic leaders, benefiting both themselves and their organizations.
