Has The Engagement Survey Outlived Its Usefulness

Employee engagement continues to be one of the key predictors of financial and other success for an organization. I think? As someone who has spent a great deal of time promoting engagement and touting its benefits, this is a difficult question to ponder. It started when I read an article entitled A Tsunami of Surveys in Business Insider. Essentially, it points out many of the flaws with these surveys - but nothing really new.

The question really is separated into two parts. Part 1: Is engagement a good measurement to use? I can’t see any reason why not as it is still an excellent predictor of success. Part 2 is more interesting: Are surveys (particularly company-wide surveys) the best way to measure engagement?
