I vacillate on whether to be surprised at the lack of awareness the executives have about the role of the manager or to consider it totally predictable. Make no mistake, many of the decisions being made by executives today show a total lack of understanding of the benefit that managers provide the organization.

While the piece touches on the implications for leadership and workforce dynamics, it overlooks two critical consequences that are more direct in their harm.
